According to the 1830 Census, the first Raby families in Knox Co TN were James, Robert and Sherwood RABY.
In the 1840 TN Census, three additional Raby families are found: James, Squire and John RABY.
In the 1820 Census for Rowan Co NC, there was a James Raby with 6 children: 5 males/1 female.
James was born in NC 1780. His wife name is Nancy; according to documentation provided by his son Squire Raby.
James and Nancy were both dead in 1861 according to the same documentation.
This matches in age and date and leads me to conclude that James RABY of Rowan Co. NC is father of
Robert, Sherwood, James, Squire and John RABY of Knox Co. TN.
