.......... The earliest Breitenbucher that I have seen is Christian/Christoph Breitenbucher (born about 1695) who settled in Birlenbach, Alsace when his regiment was stationed there. The only hint about his origin is that he was from Swabia, which included Stuttgart (I think). He and his wife, Anna Catherina Huber had a son named Johann Georg, a baker, who married Anna Catherina Guill. ..........

Henry born 19 Nov 1801 Birlenbach. I last found him in 1833 in Hunspach, witnessing the birth of Michael's daughter Barbara. Henry's occupation was noted as a Royal Guardsman, and he lived in Strasbourg. (This is the Barbara who later married George Ungerer; she died shortly after they immigrated to the US and settled in Holmes Co. in 1868). Actually I take that back. I sighted Henry again in 1838 at the birth of his nephew Bernard Breitenbucher (son of Michael) again in Hunspach. He was then a Gend'arme (some type of soldier, policeman, etc.) living in Wissembourg.. ............

Hi Gerry,
......
One quick note - parents of your wife's ancestor George Breitenbucher. Even
before I had corresponded with Ken Johnson, etc., I was fairly certain that
his parents were Michael and Elisabeth Wanner Breitenbucher (yes, they kept
showing up with my Koehlers - immigration ship list, Potter NY information).
I haven't seen the actual birth records, but I'm pretty sure that this is the
case; don't believe that Marg. Dellenbach and Philip Henry Breitenbucher are
the parents of this George.

38. Pearl (nee Snively) Coleman. George and Margaret (Nee Breitenbucher) Ohlier family history written & compiled by Pearl (nee Snively) Coleman in 1965. From the Guy Snively Archives. .
The following note was taken from a composition written & compiled by Pearl (Snively) Coleman in 1965.
George Breitenbucher & Margaret Breitenbucher, nee Ohlier came with their parents to New York State, USA early in the 1800's, from their home in Alsace Germany. By English translation the Breitenbucher home was named (Wind House). Two of George's brothers remained in Germany, namely Michael and Henry. Henry being a sheriff.
George's parents and their four sons came to America and settled at Attica, New York. The parents died soon after coming to America and are buried in or near Attica, New York. Two of their sons remained in New York State and two of their sons came to Ohio, namely George and Jacob and settled on farms near one another. George settled on a farm about for miles north of Greer, Ohio known as the "Kaylor Farm". Both brothers and their wives are buried in Kaylor Ridge Cemetery, four miles north of Greer, Ohio.

married, but I can find out. ..........
My Grandparents had 6 children, I believe one died at birth. The remaining 5 children are still living, all in Ashland County with the exception of one who lives in Mentor Ohio. The children are as follows:
