Good News!!

A map of homesteads in 1884 Clay County, South Dakota was just prepared for the Clay County Historical Society in memory of Lois Bottolfson Kryger. The map was compiled  by using information from an 1884 map of Clay County and the 1990 Homestead Map from the Centennial Atlas Company. The map shows each section with the homesteader's name handwritten in the section. It measures 17" x 20".

I am so thrilled to have this map and it can be ordered from Cleo Erickson at [email protected] or in care of the Austin-Whittemore House, 15 Austin Ave., Vermillion, SD 57069. Suggested miniumum donation $10.00 plus $5.00 shipping and handling.

Thank you to the Kryger family for compiling this treasure for us researchers.

You'll find a map of 1901 Norway Township, Clay County, SD or 1924 Norway Township, Clay County, SD with the names of the inhabitants.

The internet has expanded our research quickly. I hope to hear from others who may tie into this family.   Email Stephanie

Names I am researching: Lund, Wold, Iverson and Olson. I am working with others searching Bottolfsons, Lundes, Gundersons and Myrons. Cleo is searching the Larson and Severson family; the Lyman Collar family from New York and she has extensive information on the Dye family.
