I am looking for the family of John Charles "Charlie" Orwig that married Elizabeth "Bettie" Murray in 1890 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. They had one son John Franklin "Frank" born in 1892. They divorced sometime before 1900 and Bettie later married a William W Wilkinson. At some point Frank began using his mother's maiden name of Murray. All of his descendants carry the Murray name.It is thought that John Charles went by Charlie. Family tradition has it that Charlie worked for the railroad and met Bettie while working in the Washington/Sullivan County area of TN. It is not known where he was born or where he ended up after leaving TN.
I do have a picture of John Charles and Bettie taken sometime in the 1890's.

Techniqually no marriage, but a child, Lee born 1900/07 Sullivan Co., TN. On 1900 census, Bettie appears as a widow. The child, Lee, was raised by William Wallace Wilkinson.

Note:When Virgie's sister, Mary Lee Murray, married Samuel's son, Samuel Abijah Zimmerman, Jr., from his 1st marriage - a rather strange relationship was formed between Virgie and her sister, Mary Lee. In reality, Virgie, Mary's sister, became Mary's mother-in-law.
