- A Story of Heartbreak -
Unmarried Sons who Died in Civil War

Sons of George Washington Mears aand Melinda Adair

First Cousins to my Gt Grandfather, G. W. Mears

When I think of this family and so many young man killed, I just have to wipe away tears. They had such promising careers and lives ahead of them that was just suddenly stolen away. Though it may seem cruel, I have to feel a bit of gladness when I think that my own branch, William F. Mears (brother to the father of these young men) had went to Arkansas instead of Mississippi. Though my branch did have brothers fighting against each other, at least they did all manage to survive the war and was spared these dreadful 'bloodbaths' at Manassas and Gettysburg.
