  In 1848, A. M. Moore amd Phillip T. Buford (brother of Ridley's wife Isabella Buford) operated one or more public ferries in Buffalo, Henderson Co., Texas. In 1849, Ridley was doing similar work, and in 1851 Ridley was operating a ferry on the Trinity River in Tool, Texas.
