Notes for Belvis Mullen BOLINGER |
Grave Footstone states that he was a private during WWI (See Bolinger, BM WWI Uniform.jpeg for photo from his sister, Willie Edith (Bill).16 Emily Crenshaw writes, "Belvis was derived (by his father) from the feminine name of Belvas. He felt the masculine would be Belvis (Daddy never did like the name)."11 Crenshaw Grandchildren favorite memory was "lighting GrandPa's pipe", and remembering that he always called them "Crackers from Georgia." Grandchildren did not know until 4th grade (mandatory Georgia history class) that this moniker referred to stage coach drivers from Georgia, who would crack their bullwhips and declare "I'm a Cracker from Georgia." |
