In addition to Warham Jefferson and Peace Madison GADDIS, John GADDIS and Elizabeth CONNALLY had 5 known children.Warham Jefferson GADDIS of GA b. abt 1803 and married to Mariam LLOYD married in Bibb Co., GA March 26, 1826. Children: Thomas L., John Mosley, Francis S., Mary W., Martha G., Sodusky G., Oliva A., Peace M…all GADDIS.
John Mosley GADDIS, MD b. abt 1830 in Macon, GA was a medical doctor and m. 1) Eliza DONNAN February 03, 1858 in East Carroll Parish Records, LA. He married (2) LUCY T. PUGH Abt. 1884, daughter of James PUGH and Eliza WHITMORE. He died in El Paso, TX , January 19, 1892 where he went to care for Jeff, his son who was ill. The family lived for several years in Grant Co., NM. He was a Methodist and a Mason. The doctor was inspired by mining and no stranger to the outlying camps in the vicinity of Silver City. He was survived by several of his children by the first marriage, his second wife and two small children.
The family is a Southern family who moved to the West from GA across LA and TX to western NM, NV and AZ , with names like Jefferson Davis GADDIS, the 1st offsping of Dr. J.M.GADDIS, who himself died in Silver City, NM, only 5 days after the reknown doctor. The two small surviving children were Hattie Elizabeth GADDIS b. 1885 in Alpine, TX and Thomas Eugene GADDIS b. 1886 also in Alpine.
Hattie m. Samuel T. SPANN June 10, 1909 in Clifton, AZ resulting in offspring: Charles William SPANN, b. March 21, 1917, Reno, Nevada; d. May 30, 1972, Las Vegas, Nevada and John Gaddis SPANN.
Thomas Eugene's son (also named Thomas) went on to become the author of "Birdman of Alcatraz"
