1956 ��������������� This is an addenda to the reunion of the Knowles
Family of September 24, 1896, near Mounts, Gibson County, Indiana. ��������������� This historical record shows that a large family of
KNOWLES migrated from England to Delaware in the early part of 1700. There was
a son of this family known as SILVERHEAD KNOWLES, birth date unknown. Death
date unknown. To him and his wife, (a Swedish girl), was born a son RICHARD
Knowles, of whom it is said was a perfect pattern of humanity, and of sterling
moral qualities. Date unknown. ��������������� RICHARD KNOWLES married a Finnish girl. To this union
was born 4 children; RICHARD, ZECHARIAH, EDMUND, and PRUDENCE KNOWLES. After
her death he married a second wife, said to be a sister of his former wife. She
bore him THOMAS AND JAMES KNOWLES. JAMES was born May 9, 1757. In him is first
manifested the head of the Grand and Happy Throng. ��������������� Young JAMES KNOWLES married PATIENCE MARVEL, who was
born JANUARY 31, 1758. There was born to this union, 6 sons and 1 daughter.
They were named PRETTYMAN, JAMES, EDDY, JESSE, COMFORT, MARVEL, (for her
grandmother), and NATHAN KNOWLES, who died in infancy and was buried in
Delaware. There followed on June 17,
1795, the birth of another son and they called him NATHAN KNOWLES. Then on
October 25, 1797, another son came and they called him EPHRAIM KNOWLES. Time
passed on and there was added to their family 2 more sons ELI and ASA KNOWLES.
During the Spring of 1795, JAMES and PATIENCE moved from Delaware to Georgia.
In the Summer of 1809, they migrated to Indiana. PATIENCE died May 5, 1817.
JAMES married a MRS. CLARK, whose maiden name was ELIZABETH SMITH. She had 5
children of her own, 2 sons, and 3 daughters. She bore JAMES 2 children,
PRUDENCE and JOHN LOWRY KNOWLES. JAMES died October 23, 1839. ��������������� ASA KNOWLES, a son of JAMES, was born March 5, 1802.
He married MATILDA A MONTGOMERY. To this union was born 7 daughters; AMERICA,
SARAH, ELIZABETH, NANCY, SERALDA, PATIENCE, and MARTHA KNOWLES. MATILDA died,
date unknown. ASA was not content to live alone so he married the second time
to MRS. SUSAN WARMICK, who was a MISS BROWN. To this union was born 4 children;
JAMES, VIOLA, CLINTON, and ENOS KNOWLES. SUSAN died February 20, 1897 at the
age of 63. ASA passed away on July 6, 1898 at the age of 96. ASA's daughters
NANCY and SERELDA died quite young. AMERICA, SARAH, MARTHA, ELIZABETH and
PATIENCE lived to a ripe old age, as did JAMES, CLINTON, VIOLA, and ENOS
KNOWLES. ��������������� I will endeavor to segregate the above children of
ASA and MATILDA and SUSAN KNOWLES, and trace their individual families as far
as the KNOWLES family is concerned. ��������������� AMERICA KNOWLES was born October 16, 1830. Died
September 1890. Married THOMPSON G. MAUCK, born September 6, 1830. Married
November 13, 1851. To this union was born 5 children; JACOB, ABRAHAM, ASA,
MATILDA, and JOHN MAUCK. ��������������� JACOB WARRICK MAUCK was born August 25, 1852. JACOB
married LUCY MOUNTS August 21, 1857 [My records indicate this marriage took place 30 November 1876, in Gibson County, Indiana].� To this union was born 6 children; NORA V., ASA L., ELIZA, and
GEORGE T. MAUCK. Two infants died at birth. NORA V. MAUCK was born October 16,
1877, died September 9, 1879. ASA L. MAUCK was born July 14, 1879. ASA married
MARY ROBB, December 3, 1901. To this union was born 4 children, IRENE, WARREN,
ARVEY, and CHARLES MAUCK. IRENE was born February 1, 1903, and is a registered
nurse. WARREN MAUCK was born October 24, 1907. He married MARY HELEN WHEELER.
To this union was born no children. ARVEY MAUCK married ______________. To this
union was born 3 children; WANDA, LOIS and JERRY MAUCK. CHARLES MAUCK was born
May 30, 1915, married LENA FINCH, April 30, 1935. To this union was born one
child; SHARON MAUCK, born August 5, 1936. ELIZA E. MAUCK was born May 15, 1882,
died August 5, 1897. GEORGE T. MAUCK was born September 8, 1883. He married
ETHEL BUSH. To this union was born 1 child; RONNIE MAUCK, born August 17,
1940 [Which is in error. The child was actually Pauline Mauck, born 23 June 1915, according to "Descendants of Peter Mauck", by William Richard Wolph, 1980. My records show her as Versa Pauline Mauck. She married Ronald Clair Ward (born 01 JAN 1916) and had two children: Ronald Ward (born 17 August 1940), and Rex A. Ward (born and died in 1953). So the Ronnie cited in the original was actually a grandson of George T. Mauck and Ethel Bush, and not a son.]. ABRAHAM MAUCK, born
September 18, 1854, married MAGGIE JOHNSON on May 12, 1876. To this union was
born 7 children; HARVY A., MARY M., JOHN A., MYRTLE A., JOSEPH C., MAGGIE C.
and THOMPSON G. MAUCK. HARVY A. MAUCK, born August 22, 1877 was married and his
wife died unexpectedly--name unknown. To this union no children were born. MARY M. MAUCK was born
November 24, 1878. Single woman. JOHN A. MAUCK was born August 24, 1880. He
married GRACE REID on September 7, 1900. MYRTLE A. MAUCK, born March 29, 1882,
married MR McFEELEY. JOSEPH C. MAUCK was born July 1, 1883. Record unknown.
MAGGIE C. MAUCK was born October 15, 1884. Record unknown. THOMPSON G. MAUCK,
born October 24, 1887 is married and living at Arvada, Colorado, last known.
MATILDA J. MAUCK, born January 1860, died November 14, 1944. She married HENRY
W. SMITH on October 27, 1881. To this union was born 3 children; NORA PEARL,
AMERICA BERTHA, and EARL ROSS SMITH. NORA PEARL SMITH was born November 24,
1866. She married PINKNEY ARMSTRONG on April 28, 1884. To this union no children
were born. [I believe the dates for Nora Pearl Smith are in error. These dates would make her some 25 years older than her siblings. I think the marriage date given here may be actually her birthdate.]� �AMERICA BERTHA SMITH was born July 31, 1890 and died April 28,
1892. EARL ROSS SMITH was born June 18, 1893. He married ELVA ARMSTRONG.
Deceased. To this union no children were born. EARL ROSS SMITH married the second
time to ELSA SPORE on November 1953. To this union no children were born. [ELSA SPORE is actually Elsie Olive Spore (1895-1995). She married 2nd to Earl Ross Smith. She married 1st to unknown Woods.] ��������������� JOHN A. MAUCK was born on October 12, 1862. He
married ADA ROBISON, August 10, 1887. To this union was born 2 chidlren;
BERNICE and HILDA LOUISE MAUCK. BERNICE was born March 11, 1893. HILDA LOUSE,
birth date unknown, married a man by the name of HOLMES at Lawrence, Kansas. ��������������� SARAH KNOWLES was born December 3, 1833 and died
February 5, 1925. She married THOMAS FISHER on February 4, 1861. To this union
was born 2 children; ALBERT S. FISHER and JOSEPH WARRICK FISHER. ALBERT S. was
born June 19, 1867 and died April 10, 1883. JOSEPH WARRICK was born January 9,
1875. He married JESSE L. NORTHRUP on February 17, 1909. To this union was born
5 children; PAULINE, HOLLIS RUSSELL, DOROTHY, KENNETH, and GERALD FLOYD FISHER. PAULINE FISHER was born
December 13, 1909 and married HARRY I. TRUBSHAW. To this union was born 1 son;
HOLLIS ROSS FISHER, July 12, 1949. [I am not sure why the cited son is a Fisher, and not a Trubshaw.] �HOLLIS RUSSELL FISHER was born September 5, 1911 and died
September 3, 1933. DOROTHY CHRISTINE FISHER was born February 11, 1914. She
married RICHARD KIMBELL, June 5, 1934. To this union was born 3 children;
ZACKIE, JUDITH LYNN, and JOE EDWARD KIMBELL. ZACKIE KIMBELL was born August 30,
1936 and died December 15, 1937. JUDITH LYNN KIMBELL was born September 8,
1939. Joe Edward KIMBELL was born January 20, 1941. KENNETH FISHER was born
August 15, 1915, died at birth. GERALD FLOYD FISHER was born August 27, 1917.
He married BETTY LEE STANGLE on September 14, 1937. To this union was born 1
son; GARY RUSSELL FISHER, February 7, 1944. ��������������� ELIZABETH KNOWLES was born June 21, 1835 and died
Nobember 5, 1926. She married WILLIAM TALBOT on April 2, 1863. To this union
was born 7 children; MINNIE R., LOUELLA C., ASA M., EUGENE, MYRTLE, MATILDA
JANE and GILBERT L. TALBOT. MINNIE R. TALBOT died in infancy. LOUELLA C. TALBOT
was born August 14, 1866 and married HORACE G. MARSHALL on January 22, 1882. To
this union was born 5 children; ELSIE N., JESSIE M., BENFAMIN H., ANNA B., and
HOLLIS M. MARSHALL. ELSIE N. MARSHALL was born July 18, 1883 and married LYNN
LEACH on November 15, 1906. To this union was born 2 children; VIRGINIA and
FRANCIS LEACH. VIRGINIA LEACH was born September 27, 1916 and married PERRY
FINCHUM. To this union was born 1 child; DIANNE, April 14, 1938. Single woman.
FRANCIS LEACH was born on October 16, 1918. She married DON SPRINKLE. To this
union was born 1 child; DONALD L. SPRINKLE, April 10, 1943. ELSIE N. MARSHALL
LEACH remarried ROY TALBOT. JESSIE M. MARSHALL was born March 29, 1886 and
married CHARLES E. RUSSELL on June 28, 1905. To this union was born 1 son;
CHARLES E. RUSSELL, JR. January 13, 1921. CHARLES E. RUSSELL, JR. married JOAN
TAGGART on September 26, 1943. To this union was born 4 children; JOE RUSSELL,
June 25, 1944, CURTIS A. RUSSELL, January 22, 1946, CORA L. RUSSELL, April 12,
1948, and MARSHALL K. RUSSELL, February 21, 1953. CHARLES E. RUSSELL, JR. is a
County Attorney at Wellington, Kansas. BENJAMIN H. MARSHALL was born November
8, 1890. Single. He is a Building Contractor at Wichita, Kansas. ANNA B.
MARSHALL born December 4, 1895. Single. HOLLIS M. MARSHALL was born January 6,
1906. He married DOROTHY MORRAY on May 17, 1947. To this union was born 5
daughters; MARY S., born May 28, 1948, ANN Y., born March 20, 1951, GWYN E.,
born May 1, 1952, RITA L., born July 15, 1953, JEAN L. born November 12, 1955.
They now reside in Denver, Colorado. ASA M. TALBOT was born February 1867, and
died July 10, 1917. He married ANNA LEE on July 6, 1898. To this union was born
2 daughters; NELLIE and LEAH TALBOT. NELLIE was born in 1899, and died in
infancy. LEAH was born in 1901, married. Record unknown. EUGENE TALBOT died in
infancy. MYRTLE M. TALBOT was born April 1874. She married GRANT COLLINS. To
this union was born 2 sons; PAUL and GLEN COLLINS. PAUL was born in 1895 and
married VIDA SIGLER. To this union was born 3 children; JOHN T., GLEN S., and
MARY LOU COLLINS. PAUL COLLINS remarried MARY SLUGGA. To this union was born 1
child; PATRECIA J. COLLINS. GLENN COLLINS was killed in World War I. MYRTLE TALBOT COLLINS,
remarried EDEN E. MITCHELL, to this union was born 1 child; MARGARETE E.
MITCHELL, who married CHARLES R. LEAVERTON. To this union was born 2 children;

MATILDA JANE TALBOT was born June 26, 1878. She married EARL W. RUSSELL on
September 20, 1899. To this union was born 3 children;� LILLIAN B., KELDER E., and LEON F. RUSSELL.
LILLIAN B. RUSSELL was born August 12, 1900. She married JAMES L. WILLHITE on
October 1, 1920. To this union was born 7 children; JAMES L., MARION L., GORDON
D., DWANE R., BOBBY K., PEGGY J., and PATRICIA R. WILLHITE. JAMES L. WILLHITE
JR., was born July 17, 1921, and died April 16, 1923. MARION L. was born March
1, 1924 and married JACK M. FREEMAN on October 1, 1945.� To this union was born 4 children; TERRY K.,
born August 17, 1946, KATHA S., born September 17, 1947, GREGORY L., born
October 7, 1952 and JANICE E. WILLHITE, born on March 31, 1955. GORDON D.
WILLHITE was born on July 12, 1926 and married GERTRUDE STOCKLIN on March 14,
1947. To this union was born 3 children; JAMES L. born November 11, 1948, LARRY
L., born February 2, 1949 and RICHARD J. WILLHITE, born April 8, 1950. DWANE R.
WILLHITE was born March 26, 1928 and died July 17, 1929. BOBBY K. WILLHITE was
born January 29 1932 and died in infancy. PEGGY J. WILLHITE was born January
15, 1933. She married ROBERT F. McDOWELL on October 1, 1950. To this union was
born 2 children; DONALD R. McDOWELL, born August 17, 1951 and JERRY DEAN

A single woman. KELDER E. RUSSELL was born February 18, 1908 and died November
20, 1909. LEON F. RUSSELL was born July 28, 1910. He married MARY M. WILLHITE
on December 26, 1934. To this union was born 3 sons; RONALD J., born July 29,
1935, CONRAD E., born June 17 1938 and LARRY L. RUSSELL born October 9, 1941.
MATILDA JANE TALBOT RUSSELL remarried GEORGE F. POPKESS on August 27, 1916. To
this union was born 2 children; GEORGE F. JR. and VIVIAN M. POPKESS. GEORGE F.
JR. was born in 1917 and married BETTY J. KINNEY on August 10, 1952. To this
union was born 1 daughter; BARBARA J. POPKESS, born June 26, 1954. VIVIAN M.
POPKESS was born in 1919. A single woman. GILBERT L. TALBOT was born May 14,
1882 and married GEORGIE F. WARD on November 14, 1903. To this unions was born
6 children; PHYLLIS E., ELIZABETH M., GILBERT E., ASA W., MARGRET and DOROTHY
A. TALBOT. PHYLLIS E. was born February 7, 1905 and married FRED URSIN. To this

1947. They now reside in Miama, Florida. ELIZABETH M. TALBOT was born on May
13, 1906 and married SAMUEL C. SAMPLE in August 1926. To this unions was born 3
children; CHESTER G., DONALD N., and PHYLLIS M. SAMPLE. CHESTER G. SAMPLE was
born August 16, 1927. He married MARGRETE __________. To this union was born 2
children; ROGER and DONALD N. SAMPLE. DONALD N. SAMPLE was born on November 21,
1929 and married BETTY BROWNING. To this union was born 2 children; LINDA K.,
born in 1951 and TODD SAMPLE born in 1954. PHYLLIS M. SAMPLE was born October
9, 1932. She married RICHARD ELLIS. To this union was born 1 son and 1
daughter; GILBERT E. TALBOT was born on July 16, 1912 and married MARGURETE
DEVAULT in August 1934. To this union was born 1 daughter; GEORGIE S. TALBOT,
born on November 21, 1935. She married WILLIAM CAMERON on an August day in
1954. ASA W. TALBOT was born on March 11, 1917 and married SUSANA EATON in June
1938. To this union was born 1 son; MICHAEL W. TALBOT, November 5, 1942. ASA W.
TALBOT remarried MONICA CARTER in June 1941. To this union was born 1 son;
SHANE TALBOT, born in 1951. MARGRET L. TALBOT was born on July 27, 1923 and
married WALTER C. BIRD in June 1947. To this union was born twin daughters;
PATRICIA and PENLOPE BIRD, November 28, 1950. DOROTHY A TALBOT was born July
14, 1925 and married DAYLE TOLAND on August 23, 1945. To this union was born 1
daughter; BETTY LOU TOLAND born January 14, 1947. ��������������� PATIENCE KNOWLES was born December 24, 1843 and died
November 1915. She married CLINTON SIMPSON in 1864.� To this union was born 3 children; CLARA B., GOERGE, and LAURA
SIMPSON. CLARA SIMPSON was born in 1863. She married -- record unknown. GEORGE
SIMPSON died in infancy. LAURA SIMPSON was born in 1867 and died July 26, 1887.
She married JOHN L. ALVIS in 1885. To this union was born 1 child; died at
birth. ��������������� MARTHA KNOWLES was born on September 18, 1845 and
died April 21, 1931. She married ALFRED MAUCK in October 1868. To this union
was born 4 children; FLORENCE M., NANCY A., CORNELIA A., and MATILDA J. MAUCK.
FLORENCE M. MAUCK was born July 8, 1869 and married ANDREW J. CASE on October
31, 1895. To this union was born no children. ANDREW J. and FLORENCE CASE were
school teachers. ANDREW J. taught 17 years and FLORENCE taught 4 years.
FLORENCE MAUCK CASE remarried EMIL ROHNER on June 26, 1920. To this union was
born no children. EMIL ROHNER passed away on January 6, 1947 at Baker, Oregon.
FLORENCE still resides on her farm near Baker, Oregon, and is very spry and
healthy at her present age of 86. She is loved by everyone that knows her.
NANCY A. MAUCK was born on April 20, 1871 and died February 28, 1925. She
married THOMAS HARRIS in July 2, 1894. To this union was born 3 children;
JENNIE O., LEO A., and JESSE M. HARRIS. JENNIE O. was born April 27, 1895 and
married GLEN W. GOVER on SEPTEMBER 15, 1920. To this union was born 1 son, who
died in infancy. LEO A. HARRIS was born on January 15, 1895 and married MILDRED
STONE on July 2, 1924. To this union 3 children was born; EVYLIN M., LAVON M.,
and NANCY A HARRIS. EVYLIN M. HARRIS was born on November 3, 1925 and married
KENNETH BAKER on June 15, 1947. To this union was born 1 son; KIP W. BAKER,
born September 25, 1951.� LAVON M.
HARRIS� was born on November 26, 1928
and married CECIL D. SMITH on September 5, 1948. To this union was born no
children. NANCY A HARRIS was born on November 11, 1934 and married JOHN R.
SCARBOROUGH on December 5, 1953. To this union was born no children. JESSE M.
HARRIS was born August 7, 1900 and married VELMA E. GYULL on June 1, 1927. To
this union was born 3 children; EMERSON M., MARTHA J., and MARY A HARRIS.
EMERSON M. HARRIS was born on April 15, 1928. Single man. He is a member of the
United States Navy. MARTHA J. HARRIS was born April 18, 1931. A single woman.
MARY A HARRIS was born October 5, 1932. A single woman. MARTHA and MARY HARRIS
are bookkeepers and are presently employed in Denver, Colorado. CORNELIA A
MAUCK was born on February 6, 1874, and died on June 17, 1953. She married
OLIVER J. GRIDER on November 25, 1894. To this union was born 1 daughter;
VELVA, born on November 29, 1895 and died December 26, 1896. OLIVER J. GRIDER
was a butcher by trade. MATILDA J. MAUCK was born January 4, 1880 and married
JAMES A. KING on August 1, 1899. To this union was born 2 children; LOIS D. and
DARRELL L. KING. LOIS D. KING was born on June 26, 1900. She married CHESTER L.
HARRINGTON on Novermber 7, 1925. To this union was born 2 children; GLORIA J.,
and CHESTER L. HARRINGTON. GLORIA J. was born on July 28, 1926. She married Dr.
WILBUR L. SENDERS on Septembver 2, 1950. To this union was born 1 son; WILLIAM
C. SENDERS born September 9, 1953. They now reside in Rochester, Minnesota,
where the Doctor will soon complete his long years of schooling in Specialized
Medicines. CHESTER L. HARRINGTON, JR. was born on December 14, 1928. He married
LAVERN M. COLPITT on June 11, 1950. To this union was born 2 daughters; LINDA
M., born on Agust 28, 1951 and PAULA E., born November 28, 1952. They now
reside in Portland, Oregon, where�
CHESTER is fast becoming a builder of fine homes. DARRELL L. KING was
born on December 27, 1904. He married THELMA BRANCH on March 30, 1937.� To this union was born 6 children; JOAN,
BARBARA J., FLORENCE J., JAMES, DWAYNEL., and MARVA J. KING. JOAN KING was born
July 26, 1938 and married WILLIARD PIESCHKE on January 25, 1956. BARBARA J.
KING was born February 11, 1942. FLORENCE J. KING was born on February 18,1943.
JAMES KING was born on January 26, 1944 and died January 29, 1944. DWAYNE L.
KING was born on April 2, 1945. MARVA J. KING was born on June 23, 1946.
DARRELL L. KING migrated to Hawthorne, Nevada from the sate of Kansas in the
year of 1942, where he is now employed by the United States Armed Forces. ��������������� (The above seven girls were Grand Father ASA's
children by his first wife MATILDA MONTGOMERY. The following three boys and one
girl were Grand Father ASA's children by his second wife, SUSAN WOMACK. So
JAMES, VIOLA, CLINTON, and ENOS were half Brothers and Sisters of the above
mentioned girls.) ��������������� JAMES M. KNOWLES was born on October 19, 1861 in
Princeton, Indiana. His father ASA, migrated to Kansas when JAMES was a small
boy, around the early eighties, in a covered wagon drawn by a Jack and Jinney,
which had a young Jack about 3 months old when they left Indiana. JAMES told of
an incident that happened nearly every day. The young Jack would lag way behind
and the mother Jinney thinking it was lost or hungry would let out a heavy bray
and turn around quick as a flash, often upsetting the wagon, or breaking the
tongue, or something else. They ferried the Mississippi River at St. Louis, and
was about 6 weeks on the trip. He stopped at Quincy, Kansas, where he engaged
in farming. A few years passed and he decided to return to Indiana, so he fixed
up the covered wagon, this time using a pair of horses. He then returned to
Indiana. But Indiana didn't seem the same as before, so in a couple of years he
fixed up the covered wagon, returning to again to Kansas, where he spent the
rest of his days. Having made the trip 3 times by covered wagon from Indiana to
Kansas, he had a lot of tall stories to tell his Grand Children, which they
enjoyed very much. JAMES M. KNOWLES having grown to manhood, fell in love with
a beautiful girl by the name of LYDIA ANN DIRRIM. LYDIA being only fifteen
years old at the time, her parents naturally objected to JAMES courting her.
But which is usually the case, they later eloped and were married on October
16, 1883, and lived on a farm adjoining his fathers farm at Quincy, Kansas.
LYDIA died on October 21, 1927 and was buried at Auburn, Washington. James died
on June 18, 1948 at the age of 86 years and was buried at Auburn, Washington.
To this union was born 5 children; ASA, CARLIE, LLOYD, JAMES, and CYRUS
KNOWLES. ASA KNOWLES died in infancy. CARLIE KNOWLES was born on August 24,
1887 at Quincy, Kansas. She married A. C. STOUT on October 31, 1905, who was a
Yeoman in the United States Navy. A sober and industrious lad. To this union
was born 1 daughter; VELVA STOUT, born August 14, 1906. She married ARTHUR
LATIMER who is a Bond Salesman. ARTHUR and VELVA LATIMER are living in Seattle,
Washington at the present time. CARLIE STOUT passed away on May 8, 1951 and
everyone that knew her missed her very much. She is buried in Tacoma,
Washington. A. C. STOUT later married and is living at the present time in
Tacoma, Washington. ��������������� LLOYD A. KNOWLES was born Novermber 6, 1888 at

in the Building Business, where LLOYD served his apprenticeship, under his
fathers supervision, and carried on in Construction Business all his life.
Retired at the age of 65, and now live is Auburn, Washington. LLOYD A. KNOWLES
met and married and English girl LYDIA EVANS on December 25, 1912. She migrated
to the United States, at the age of 15 years, with an American family which had
been visiting in Liverpool, England. She worked for them some 3 or 4 years at
San Francisco, California before her marriage. To this union was born 5 sons;
LLOYD CHESTER, PAUL LAMBERT, LYLE ALVIS, JAMES MARCHANT, and EARL RICHARD
KNOWLES. LLOYD CHESTER KNOWLES was born at Algona, Washington on Novmber 23,
1913. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 18 years, and at once he
was sure he had found just what he wanted. Not being satisfied to always wear a
white hat, he began to study and today after 22 years us a Full Commander. In
the years of his service to the Navy, he made two trips to the South Pole, as
Chief Engineer of the Burton Island, a Navy Ice Breaker. He also made two trips
to the North Pole on the same ship in the same capacitry. He also made numerous
trips to Europe and Asia, also Japan, China, Korea, and the Phillipines, where
he now is Commander of the United States Navy Transport CHARA. This ship
transports Navy Supplies between Japan and the Phillipine Islands. LLOYD
CHESTER met and married GLADYS CARLSON, of Seattle, Washington, (a Norwegian
girl), on November 4, 1939 and they now reside at San Mateo, California. To
this union was born 1 son, on his fathers birthday, November 23, 1943, HERBERT
LLOYD GEORGE KNOWLES. PAUL LAMBERT KNOWLES was born on February 18, 1916 at
Algona, Washington. He attended Grade School there and High School at Auburn,
Washington, where he was an excellent student, and played Football and
Basketball for his school. He was very popular at Auburn High School. PAUL had
a variety of jobs in his early life. Among them was prefabrication of buildings
for the United States Government during World War II, and many construction
jobs throughout the Northwest. He was an excellent mechanic and builder. He now
owns a block of stock in the Anacortes Veneer Company at Anacortes, Washington,
where he is now employed, at an excellent salary, under the co-operative
system. PAUL is a member of King Solomon Lodge #60 F and AM of Auburn,
Washington. PAUL LAMBERT KNOWLES met and married IRENE CARLSON, (no relation to
the former Gladys Carlson), on August 12, 1940. A Swedish-Finn girl from South
Bend, Washington. To this union was born 2 children; PAUL RICHARD KNOWLES,
January 28, 1942, and DIANNE KNOWLES, June 7, 1945. LYLE A KNOWELES was born
March 14, 1920 at Botha, Alberta, Canada. His parents returned to he United
States early in the year of 1922, where LYLE was reared and attended school. At
the age of 18, LYLE, joined the United States Navy and served 6 years during
World War II. He was on the Island of Leyte, in the Phillipines, when the war
closed. Returning to the States, LYLE was later discharged at the termination
of the 6 year period. He is now engaged in light and heavy construction work in
and around Auburn, Washington. LYLE A. KNOWLES married FAYE LARSON on July 12,
1948. To this union no children were born, but they adopted a little girl named
Frances in the year of 1951, at the age of 20 months. Frances (FRANKIE) is
loved by all her relatives and non-relatives alike, and is rapidly growing into
a beautiful young lady. JAMES MARCHANT KNOWLES was
born on February 24, 1922 at Botha Alberta, Canada. He also attended High
School at Auburn, Washington and was a Star Guard for Auburn High. JAMES joined
the United States Navy and is now in his 15th year of service. He is an
excellent Airplane Mechanic, and held some very responsible jobs during Workd
War II. He is now stationed in Labrador, Canada, making Test Flights over the
North Pole and Greenland Areas. His home is in Wickford, Rhode Island. JAMES M.
married FRANCIS LONG on July 4, 1943, at San Diego, California. To this union
was born no children, but they took a 6 month baby boy who was homeless in
1951. He is a strapping boy now, nearly 5 years old, and a red head. They call
him FREDDIE. The parents are hoping to be able to adopt FREDDIE soon. EARL
RICHARD KNOWLES, was born on April 8, 1926 at Algona, Washington. He attended
Grade School in Algona, and two years of High School in Auburn, Washington,
being taken out in his third year because of illness. He was admitted to
Laurelhurst Sanitorium in July 1942, and released in March 1947. EARL seemed to
be making a fast recovery, however, complications set in which proved to be
fatal. He passed away on October 23, 1948, at the age of 22 years. LYDIA
KNOWLES remarried HENRY HALL and is now employed at the Boeing Airplane Company
and resides at Renton, Washington. LLOYD A. KNOWLES remarried LOUISE N. NELSON
on June 20, 1935 and they now reside at Auburn, Washington. ��������������� JAMES LOWERY KNOWLES was born at Quincy, Kansas on
May 8, 1895 and died at San Diego, California on December 1, 1941. JAMES
married Helen BERGSIRUM in 1926. To this union was born no children. JAMES was
a Chief in the United States Navy and had only about 2 years to go to retire
when he died very suddenly of a heart ailment. He is buried in Cypress Gardens,
Mausoleum, at San Diego, California. ��������������� CYRUS M. KNOWLES was born January 4, 1905 at Port
Orchard, Washington. CYRUS married VIOLET TREESE in 1925. To this union was
born no children. CYRUS is now residing at Auburn, Washington and is engaged in
Construction Work. ��������������� VIOLA C. KNOWLES was born on February 5, 1863 and
died March 2, 1945. She was united in marriage to JAMES R. OSBORN in 1881. To

World War II, and was seriously wounded twice in one day, but managed to
