Gregg Bonner's Lentz Family
Gregg Bonner's
Lentz Family
The LENTZ Surname DNA Project has yielded some interesting information about this family. I suggest those with interest in the LENTZ families (plural) who were in Rowan County, North Carolina in the 1760s look at this page.
My most recent Lentz is Mary Caroline Lentz. She is the daughter of Samuel Jonah Lentz and Louisa Ann Springer. She was born 23 JAN 1854 and died 10 MAY 1878. On 21 DEC 1872, she married my great great grandfather, Thomas Lee Williams. Thomas Lee Williams was born 13 MAY 1848, and died 05 SEP 1920. Together they had 2 children, one of whom was my great grandfather, Willie Williams. The name Thomas Lee Williams is findable in the book Lentz Heritage (in two places, as both his 1st and 2nd wife had Lentz Heritage), and it is, in fact, the name on his tombstone. His full name was actually Leroy Thomas Williams, Jr. He (at least sometimes) went by the name "Tom". His father was Leroy Thomas Williams, Sr., who (at least sometimes) went by the name "Lee". [See also my "census" section for Bedford County, Tennessee.]

Samuel Jonah Lentz was the son of Benjamin F. Lentz (1800-1875) and Penelope Ann Bussey (1803-1889). Benjamin F. Lentz was the son of Benjamin Lentz (1755-1833) and Rosana Fite (1767-1844).

I have made digital images (scans) of the Family Bible Record of Benjamin Lentz (1767-1844). Follow this link to see the scans, and follow the link on the top of that page to get to translations of it into English (the original is in German).
