ROBERT HOUSTON
Bronson Journal, Friday, April 8, 1921
Robert Houston was born in Scotland March 20, 1833, and departed this life
April 2, 1921 aged 88 years and 23 days.
The deceased came to this country when only 2 1/2 years old, stopping in New
York about 1 1/2 years, then removed to Sturgis, Michigan, where he resided
until his marriage to Miss Electa J Lemmon, September 21, 1864, when they moved
to Branch County, where he resided until his death. It can be truly said that
he was an honest, upright citizen, highly respected by all who knew him. He
was a very patient suffer[er] through the long months of illness. He leaves to
mourn his sad departure his bereaved widow who tenderly cared for him until the
end, two daughters, Mrs Ida J. Cattell of Bronson, and Mrs Ina B. Arver of
Sturgis, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one sister aged 93
years, besides many other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceeded
in death by one son Ora, who died in infancy, also four brothers, Alexander,
David, John, and James and one sister, Mrs. Mary Gunthrop.
Funeral service was held at his home late Tuesday afternoon of this week,
Rev. Cutler officiating and interment made in the Bronson Cemetery.
