Nicholas- who is descended from Henry, and settled in Lansing, Iowa. Following is the family links for the Nicholas branch in Lansing, Iowa.

Henry > John born 1754 > George born 1815 > Nicholas born 1834

Yes, Ebenezer and Nicholas would be cousins, but their descendants have never met, and did not know about the family connection.

I have addresses for eleven Betsinger families in Iowa. I can connect all, but James in Northwood, to one of the above families. If you know James, PLEASE, have him contact LINDA..

ABRAHAM

Abraham Betsinger was born in 1837, in Oneida County, New York, the son of Jacob and Sarah Mower Betsinger. Sarah was the daughter of Abraham Mower, of Oneida County. I do not know Jacob’s parents, but he had a sibling, Christian. Abraham Betsinger’s siblings were John, Edward, Jacob and Sarah. Sometime before 1860, Abraham went to Illinois, as he is in the Ogle County 1860 census. He married Mary Jane Bowman in 1860, and they lived in Illinois about five years. They are found in the Delaware County, Iowa, 1870 census, and the Bremer County, Iowa, 1880 census. Abraham and Mary Jane had six children, and their descendants are scattered all over the U. S. Abraham’s siblings stayed in New York State, and many of their descendants remain in NY. We have no information on Abraham’s brother, Jacob and his descendants. If you connect with Jacob, born 1838, in Oneida County, NY. PLEASE contact Linda.

Please see my family page for more information, or leave me a message in the Guest book. I have much more information on Jacob, born 1809, family.

EBENEZER

Ebenezer Betsinger is the son of John and Mary B Ann Neimyer Betsinger, and was born in 1845, in Madison County, New York. His siblings are Henry and Harvey. I have no information on these siblings. Ebenezer’s son, Edward Wayland, is first found in the ?? census of ---county, Iowa. Ebenezer died in 1910. This family has mostly settled around Clinton, Iowa, but one branch, Harrison Rouse Betsinger, went to California. His sons, Donald and Stewart, were born and died there. If you are from California, I believe you may connect with this family. The Clinton, Iowa, link is researching and would like to share information with you. You may leave a message in the guest book, and I’ll make sure they get it.

Nicholas Betsinger was born in 1834, in Madison County, NY, the son of George and Martha Sipe Betsinger. His siblings include George Washington, Hezekiah, Daniel and John. These stayed in New York State, and I have information on their descendants. See the NY page for more information on them. Nicholas immigrated in the 1850’s and married Emily Bellows in Illinois, in ??. He served in the military from Iowa during the Civil War, and I have his military papers. He is listed in the 1870 census for Allamakee County, Iowa. Nicholas and Emily had ten children, and I have much information on their sons, Reuben and Warren. I do not have any information on other aspects of the family. Please see Wisconsin pages for more information on them.
