In the book the Desendants of Adam Spach, it states that Heinrich Spach had 9 children with Anna Catherine Holder. However he married again in 1860 to Ameila Brown leaving her pregnant when he died. The Spach surname changed around the 19th century to Spaugh.

Mrs. Mabel Gregory Spaugh, 91, formerly of Lewisville, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Countryside Manor in Stokesdale. She was born in Forsyth County on Dec. 5, 1908, to the late Charles P. Gregory Sr. and Rebecca Shoemaker Gregory. Mrs. Spaugh was a member of West Side Christian Church in Lewisville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Spaugh, who died in 1989. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Brenda Bodford and husband, Al, of Greensboro; her son, Donald Spaugh of Clemmons; two grandchildren, Amy Poteat and husband, Randy, of Raleigh and Jason Bodford of Greensboro; and several nieces and nephews, including Freida Shore of Kernersville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The Rev. Kent Allen will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and request memorials be made to West Side Christian Church, Lewisville.

Mrs. Esma W. Yokley Spaugh of Winston-Salem died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at The Nursing Center at Oak Summit. She was born July 31, 1905, to W.O. Williams and Etta Gough Williams in Yadkin County. She was married to Ernest K. Yokley on June 30, 1930. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1940. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her second husband, Henry Spaugh; two brothers, Howard and Dallas Williams; and a sister, Ethel W. James. Surviving are her son, Ernest L. Yokley of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Mark S. Yokley of Arden and Kristin Y. Kent of Winston-Salem; and a great- grandson, Adam Kent. Mrs. Spaugh was a devoted mother and grandmother who lived her life for others. She was a lifetime member of Cottage Street Church of Christ. Mrs. Mildred Spaugh Martin of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000. She was born to the late Henry M. Spaugh and Phoebe Jane Sells Spaugh on April 10, 1917, in Winston-Salem where she has been a lifelong resident. She married D. Odell Martin on October 6, 1934, also in Winston-Salem. He preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1990. She was an active member of Friedland Moravian Church and retired after 25 years as the cafeteria manger of Glenn High School. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Lillian Cox, Myrtle Hauser, and Emma Hege, and a granddaughter, Lisa Vogler. Surviving her is a daughter, Mary Alice Vogler and her husband Robert A. Vogler of Winston-Salem; a son, James S. Martin of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren, Donnie Martin, Rodney Martin, Marty Vogler, Eric Vogler and Mary Jo Martin Mackie, all of Winston- Salem, Alison Vogler Breher of Raleigh, and Pam Martin Long of King; 16 great-grandchildren, a stepmother, Esma Spaugh of Winston-Salem; and a brother, Franklin Spaugh of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at the Friedland Moravian Church. The Rev. Dr. Steve Craver and the Rev. Norwood Green will officiate. Interment will officiate. Most of her life was spent in Winston - Salem . She attended local schools. She was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 38 years service. She was the oldest member of Pinedale Christian Church.

Surviving are a son Richard Hege and wife, Betty of Winston - Salem, two granchildren, Charles Steven Hege and wife, Brenda, and Karen Cole and husband Randy; four great-grandchildren, Brian Hege and wife Kristie, Wesley Hege , Austin Cole, and Tyler Cole.

He retired from Frank Vogler & Son's Funeral Home after working there for 60 years. Mr. Hege was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who especially enjoyed attending his grandson's ballgames and sporting events. Obit for Betty Jean Smith Hege. Mrs. Betty Jean Smith Hege, 79, died Monday evening, May 29, 2006, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Betty was the loving wife of the late Richard Franklin Hege for 61 years. She was also a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who always called and sent cards to family members, friends and church members on special occasions and who especially enjoyed attending her grandson's ballgames and sporting events. Mrs. Hege was born in Winston-Salem on Jan. 21, 1927, to the late George B. and Pearl Marshall Smith. She graduated from Gray High School in 1944 and helped organize her class reunions for many years. While at Gray High School, she was a star athlete, participating in basketball, softball, swimming and soccer. She was a member of Pinedale Christian Church, where she worked as church secretary for many years. She was also an active member of the Young at Heart group at the church.
