Nelson Admiral Tupper and Lorena Judith Lockwood

Nelson Admiral Tupper, son of Thomas Tupper III and Philanda Tupper, was born on 17 February 1817 in Sharon, Connecticut and died in about 1879 in Primrose, Iowa.  Nelson resided in Connecticut and moved to Ohio with his parents in 1836.  He married Lorena Judith Lockwood on 10 December 1839 in Coventry Township, Portage County, Ohio (Coventry Township is now located in Summit County, established in 1840).  Lorena was born on 28 September 1822 in Stockholm, New York, the daughter of Amos Lockwood and Zerviah Rugg Bemis.  Lorena died on 9 July 1907 in Cameron, Idaho (she was living with her son Howard, in the 1900 census, see below).  Nelson and his father, Thomas Tupper, are both listed in the 1840 Federal Census of Randolph Township, Portage County, Ohio.  I have not located Nelson and Lorena in the 1850 census.  The Tupper household from the 1860 Federal Census of Climax, Kalamazoo County, Michigan (Nelson and Lorena are on the bottom of page 86, their household with all the children is continued on page 87):

The children of Nelson Admiral Tupper and Lorena Judith Lockwood were:

2. Silas Nelson Tupper, was born on 20 March 1843 in Ohio and died on 15 March 1880 in Morris, Kansas.  Silas married Olive Harrison, the daughter of William "Uncle Billy" and America Harrison.  In the 1870 Federal Census of Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, Silas and Olive were living in between his parents and his younger brother Edwin (the last name was carried over from his parents household):

3. Edwin Horace Tupper, was born on 15 April 1844 in Ohio.  In the 1870 Federal Census of Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, Edwin was living next door to his older brother Silas, and a household away from his parents:

Edwin also made his way to Kansas, from the 1880 Federal Census of District 139, Valley Township, Morris County, Kansas, page 452A, just two households away from his mother and younger brothers:

Edwin must have made his way back to Michigan and finally settled in the Ypsilanti, Michigan area, according to his brother, Howard's biography (see below).  I did locate them in the 1900 Federal Census of Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County, Michigan, ED# 110, sheet 10A, enumerated on 15 June, address listed as 28 Summitt Street (Edwin and Frances both stated that they had been married for 34 years; Frances stated that she had given birth to 3 children, 2 of which were still living):

6. Archelaus Tupper, born on 28 February 1848 in Portage County, Ohio and died on 11 March 1848.

7. Adelia Tupper, born on 30 June 1849 in Michigan.  Adelia married Samuel Teed  in about 1868 in Michigan.  Samuel C.
