Elizabeth Roxena Betsey Harrison and Aaron David Soule I Listed below are the descendants of Elizabeth Roxena "Betsey" Harrison and Aaron David Soule I.  Elizabeth was th ninth child of Joseph Harrison I and Bathsheba Oglesby.

The children of Elizabeth Roxena Harrison and Aaron David Soule I:

(15.9.1) Aaron David Soule II was born on 21 April 1834, in Mill Creek Township, Union County, Ohio, and died on 10 Mar 1899, in Paw Paw, Van Buren County, Michigan.  He is buried in Harrison Cemetery, Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  He married (1st) Elizabeth Stratton, and married (2nd) Margaret Stratton.  Aaron married sisters, Elizabeth and Margaret Stratton, both daughters of  Holeb Stratton and Calista Heath.  Laura Diana Stratton Harrison (wife of (15.8.15) Sam Harrison) was their younger sister.  Calista's sister, Jane Heath Sweet was the mother of  Frances Sweet Harrison (wife of 15.10.4) William Henry "Hank" Harrison and Lois Jane Sweet Van De Bogart (wife of 15.8.7.2) James Benjamin "Ben" Van De Bogart.  With all of these close relationships, the families traveled and explored together.  Aaron and family lived in the Harrisonville settlement in Iowa, but returned to Michigan settling in Van Buren County. Aaron's youngest son by his first wife, Elizabeth (15.9.1.4), Frank Soule remained in the Harrisonville settlement and operated the Soule Saloon. Frank married Eva Nash (the granddaughter of (15.10) Fred Harrison and Lucretia Roe).  Frank took up permanent settlement and step-mother and aunt, Margaret and their family removed to Hinton.  Aaron's daughter, (15.9.1.7) Elizabeth "Libby" Soule married (15.8.5.1.1/15.1.14.1.1) Eli Sager (grandson of Edna Ann Harrison and Eli Orrin Sager).  Aaron's son, (15.9.1.8) George Soule died in Hinton, Iowa when he was hit by a train (his team got excited and ran towards the tracks).  Some remained in Hinton, however members of the family went to the next big settlement of Craik and Aylesbury, Saskatchewan, Canada.  Aaron's widow, Margaret died in Saskatchewan at the home of her daughter, (15.9.1.9) Effie Soule Bruce.  Effie's son, (15.9.1.9.2) Melvin Bruce married Mary Burle Church (15.8.4.6.1.5) Mary was the granddaughter of (15.8.4.6) Harrison DeHart Selbee I.

(15.9.2) Frederick Harrison Soule was born on 14 July 1835, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died on 10 February 1906, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  He is buried in Harrison Cemetery, Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  He married (1st) Hester Ann Moulton, and married (2nd) Carrie in 1896.  Frederick Soule lived in Kalamazoo County, Michigan most of his life.  He was prone to the family wanderlust and appears in many of the family settlements.  Fred and Esther lived in the Harrisonville settlement, and some of their children also made the journey.  In Carrie Fenwick's scrapbook there is a notice on April 2nd, 1895, for the death of Esther Ann Soule.  It states she died on a farm between Keg Harrison and Orrin Mils Sager in Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa.  Many of the family accompanied her body to Michigan where she was buried in the Harrison Cemetery in Climax Township.  Death records have not been searched in Kalamazoo County, and there is a notation in the Plymouth County Court house.  The Harrison family was notorious for recording records of death, etc. in other states.  We have found several examples, another documented case is the birth of (15.8.8.3) Maggie Roesannah Harrison Richardson who was born in Big Creek, Kansas, but her birth is recorded in Kalamazoo County, Michigan. The family was so transient that here or there, it was just an extension of a Harrison colony.  Fred and family were also in the Gordon, Nebraska settlement.  Fred returned to Michigan, and married a second time.  He is buried at the Harrison Cemetery in Climax Township.  Fred and Esther's daughter, (15.9.2.5) Susie Soule Burr was the mother of Lelia Burr who married (15.8.4.4.8) Tracy Buckmaster (the grandson of (15.8.4) Eliffia Harrison Selbee.

(15.9.3) Stephen Soule was born on 11 June 1837, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died on 20 September 1910, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  He is buried in Harrison Cemetery, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  He married Hettie Roberts (the daughter of (15.1 ).  Stephen Soule known as "Steve" was married to Hettie Roberts, a granddaughter of (15.1) Hannah Rachel (Harrison) Sager.  Hannah was Stephen's aunt (his mother, Betsey's eldest sister).  Hettie was reared by her grandmother and assisted her in the tailoring/seamstress business.  Stephen, Hettie and family made a quick settlement in Harrisonville, Iowa and Gordon, Nebraska, and returned to Michigan.

(15.9.4) Elizabeth Roxena "Libby" Soule was born on 7 June 1839, Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died. 7 June 1919, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  She is buried in Harrison Cemetery, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  She married (15.1. ) Abraham Merle Sager I.  "Libby" cared for her cousin, Abraham Sager I's children after the death of his first wife Mehitable Powers.  A short time later they married and Abraham was in Harrisonville, (Hinton) Iowa as early as 1865.  He wandered the west and called Iowa home, although he made frequent trips and the mass movement of relatives began in 1874.  Relatives visited the Montana settlement as early as 1850, but this did not take hold until the late 1890s.  Once Libby's brother, Galen Soule settled in Harrisonville in 1867, more family members began to entertain the idea of moving to a new settlement.  Galen is considered the first permanent settler of Harrisonville.  Abraham was influential in Gordon, Nebraska, or at least made treks there as his children settled there.  Abraham's children from his first marriage and second marriage were a part of most of the Harrison settlements.  Abraham and Libby later returned to Michigan.  Abraham's children and grandchildren were a part of  the Kalispell, Montana movement in the 1900s.  It is interesting that Abraham's son, (15.1.10.3) Frederick Elliott Sager married Henrietta "Etta" Peron, they had one son, (15.1.10.3.1) Ira Sager.  After the death of Frederick, Etta remarried and her daughter, Mary Myrtle Cardwell married (15.1.10.3.9/ 15.9.4.3) Abraham Merle "Merle" Sager II.  This really is another example of the clannishness and undefined relationships.  Abraham I's sons married a mother and daughter.  (15.1.10.1) Israel Powers Sager married Anna Maria Selby (they were also instrumental in Harrisonville, Gordon and Kalispell)  There are many other complex relationships in this branch of the family.

(15.9.5) Solon Soule was born on 21 September 1840, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died on 19 October 1911, in Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  He married Mary "Polly" Ford.  Solon Soule farmed in Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  He married "Polly" Ford and the Fords were extremely close to the Alex and Bett Harrison family, buying the large home Alex built.  Several of the Ford grandchildren and Harrison grandchildren married.  They were a part of many of the settlements, however seem to have remained in Michigan for the greater part of their lives.  They did reside in Harrisonville for a while.  It is interesting that when the Harrison-Roe-Selbee reunions were organized many of Betsey's children helped to organize the reunion.  It was discussed to have "Soule" added to the list of the names in the reunion, however Betsey's children all agreed they so identified themselves as Harrison's that their surname did not need to be added.  Solon's daughter, (15.9.5._) Emma Etta  Soule married Clarence Roe, son of Jonathan Roe II and his first wife, (15.4.2) Catherine Harrison Hendrixson.  Catherine is the daughter of (15.4) Joseph Harrison II and Lydia Ann Roe.  Recall that Jonathan Roe II is the nephew of Lydia Ann Roe Harrison, and this union brought together many branches of the family.  There are even more close relationships in Solon's branch.

(15.9.6) Joseph Robert Soule was born in 1841, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  He was in Plymouth County in 1873, and the last record of him is in the Harrisonville area in 1885.  There are hints of Joseph in the Hill City, South Dakota, and Gordon, Nebraska colonies.

(15.9.7) Roxey Bathsheba Soule was born on 3 January 1842 and died on 12 February 1842, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and is buried in Harrison Cemetery, Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.

(15.9.8) Galen Herbert Soule was born on 15 June 1843, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died on 25 February 1913, in Hinton, Hungerford Township, Plymouth County, Iowa.  He was buried on 27 February 1913, in Lincoln Township Cemetery, in Hinton, Iowa.  He married (15.1. . ) Sarah Sager the daughter of Abraham Merle Sager I and Mehitable Powers, on 7 January 1874, in Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa.  Galen is credited with the founding of the Harrisonville settlement in Hinton, Iowa.  He was the first permanent settler there in 1867-1868, and gave such glowing details of the area, that his uncle, Alex I and others of that generation placed some capital into developing this settlement.  Alex had been through this area many years prior.  Galen settled in Section 20 of Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa .  Once Galen's cousin, Keg Harrison (15.8.12) and other contemporaries made the move, the official growth of Harrisonville developed.  Galen married his cousin's daughter, Sarah Sager.  Sarah's father, (15.1.10) Abraham Merle Sager I was an early settler of the Hinton area.  An interesting relationship developed as Galen's older sister, (15.9.4) Elizabeth "Libby" Soule was married to Abraham Sager I, so Galen's sister was also his mother-in-law and Sarah's father was also her brother-in-law.  Sarah and Galen were extremely close to Keg Harrison's family.  Keg's son, (15.8.12.2) Victor Olan Harrison married the Soule's daughter (15.1.10.4.2/15.9.7.2) Daisy Electa Soule.  Relationships became even more confusing when Victor and Daisy's daughter, (15.1.10.4.2.3/15.9.7.2.3/15.8.12.2.2) Gladys Elizabeth Harrison married (15.1.10.6.4.2) James Frank Gardner.  (James was the grandson of (15.1.10.6) Mehitable Francina (Sager) Gardner (daughter of Abraham Sager I).  To further complicate issues after Gladys passed away, James Gardner married Lois McNichols.  Lois' great grandmother was (15.1.10.7) Altana Amanda Sager Ireton Myers (daughter of Abraham Sager I). Altana's daughter (15.1.10.7.1) Jessie Leona Ireton was married to Hiram Selby (son of Joseph Selby).  All of these families comprised the Gordon, Nebraska settlement, extremely unique and distant relatives living in a settlement together.  Some were already 3rd and 4th cousins by this generation.  Some of these folks met up and joined the Oregon and Washington settlements.  Galen and Sarah remained in the Harrisonville settlement and served as the hub of the family, spending a lot of time with Keg and Celia Harrison.  They really worked to preserve the family colonies.  Sarah lived to be 90, and was spry and full of tales until her dying day.  She was out on the lawn entertaining her great great grandchildren with family tales and would even through in the occasional somersault or cartwheel to get their attention.

(15.9.9) Nathan Alexander Soule was born on 17 June 1845, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died 16 October 1921, in the home of Frank Soule, in Hinton, Plymouth County, Iowa.  He is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery, Hinton, Plymouth County, Iowa.  Nathan joined the Harrisonville settlement in 1870, and he helped his brother, Galen, and cousins Abraham Sager I and Keg Harrison, Orrin Mils Sager and others to construct the Harrison Road.  This road is still in existence, east of Hinton, Iowa in its rough, crude original state (it is now known as 320th Street, where the road crosses the Whiskey Creek, until a county road intersects this portion of the road is as it was 125 years ago).  Nathan helped to establish many of the family settlements, and was always ready and willing to pick up and go on a moments notice.  He did not marry and he remained in the Harrisonville area working at one nephew's blacksmith shop and another's saloon.

(15.9.10) William "Bill" Soule was born on 15 September 1848, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died on 23 September 1913.  He is buried in Harrison Cemetery, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  He married Avilla Selby (the daughter of George W. Selby and Margaret "Peggy" Roe, she had a twin sister named Arvilla) in 1881.  Bill Soule wandered into many of the family settlements.  He was in Harrisonville, Iowa, Dodge City, Kansas, Gordon, Nebraska and he had accompanied the Roe-Harrison trip to Texas in 1880.  He married Avilla Selby, she was the daughter of George W. Selby.  George was the brother of Newton Titus Selbee (husband of (15.8.4) Elizabeth "Eliffia" Harrison).  This branch of the family took the Selby spelling to differentiate themselves from all of the others.  Avilla's mother was Margaret "Peggy" Roe, daughter of Jeremiah Roe II and (1) Jane Grove.  Peg was the sister of Bett Roe Harrison (wife of 15.8 Alexander I) and Kate Roe Harrison (wife of 15.7 Columbia).  Many of the Selby and Soule's found themselves in the Gordon, Nebraska settlement, and went to the second wave settlement of Hill City, South Dakota around 1903, and into Montana.  Bill and Avilla removed back to Kalamazoo County, Michigan and are buried in the Harrison Cemetery, Climax Township, Michigan.

(15.9.11) Mary Soule was born on 15 October 1852, in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died in 1933, in Vicksburg, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  She is buried in Vicksburg Cemetery, in Schoolcraft Township, Michigan.  She married (1st) Hiram Clark, and married (2nd) Chester McCaslin.  Mary remained in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, besides a few visits to the family settlements she was mainly in Michigan.  She was extremely close to her sister, Libby Soule Sager and family.

(15.9.12) Laura Soule was born on 8 March 1856, in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died in 1927, in Vicksburg, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  She is buried in Boughton Cemetery, in Pavillion Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  She married James Rice.  Laura remained in Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  She had visited some of the settlements.
