of the estate. At the time of their father's death the children resided

"This well kept frame house at 422 East Second Street was built
in about 1850 by JOSIAH MILLER, a well-known local carpenter. It
was originally of simple Greek Revival design, but remodeling in the early
1900s probably added Colonial Revival styling."....
"JOSIAH MILLER was born in Connecticut in 1801. In
his early life, he worked at his trade in Savannah, Georgia, before coming
here in about 1835...."
" MILLER served as a county commissioner, a township trustee
and was a member of the Methodist Church. He was a charter member

St. and
her husband was a master builder (1850-1851 records)
Other members of the church included: H. Darling, Spafford

Flack and Aurelia Perrin.
In 1852 the list also included: Joshua Chapel, Mary A. Darling,

Elizabeth died on Wednesday April 8, 1857.
She lived from Friday to Wed. No burial info.
The abstract says
"MERCER, Mrs.--Portage,
burned, w/o John, d/o Coroner ELDER."
(We also know now that her father JOHN ELDER
was coroner in that time period, from BEERS
history of Wood County).
JOHN MERCER remarried
Amanda CREPS,
and is buried in Bowling Green.
Need to find burial location for ELIZABETH ELDER MERCER,
and her parents, MARY MOREHOUSE ELDER (d. before 1860)
and for JOHN ELDER ( d. abt 1863.) Family letters
say that Elizabeth was "burned in a washday fire".
