Betty Berg grew up in Tampa, Florida, graduating from Plant High School. She then attended and graduated from Florida State University. She was working for the Tampa Times as a journalist when she met Don Bradley. After their marriage they moved to Texas where their children were born. They moved back to Florida - first to Dade City, then to Tampa where Don worked for the Continental Can Company. He was transferred to Perry, Georgia where they lived until he retired. Betty and Don were avid campers, backpacking into remote areas of the mountains on their vacations. After retirement they bought a home near Franklin, North Carolina.
