Early Oliver Families of Virginia

Early Viriginia Oliver Families

TYPES of RECORDS SEARCHED

All records that contained a person named Oliver that I could find so far, are included. This is still a work in progess though.

Some records for families into which Oliver women married are also listed, but these are far from complete. Do not necessarily give up if you do not find your Oliver on this page. Not all counties have marriage records posted. Oliver women are therefore especially hard to trace since only heads of households were listed in the census until 1850. Marriage records are typically from Ancestry.com or from GenWeb. I have not searched any original marriage records for Virginia.

Note that Virginia is not included in the Federal Census records until the 1810 U.S. Census, but some tax or poll lists were made earlier.

I have ordered some wills from some counties and others were transcribed and posted by others. These are on linked pages, rather than on this page.

Likewise there are data for some men from Revolutionary War Pension Application files that were available on HeritageQuest Online. ALL men who served from Virginia in those records appear on this page. Other men who were born in Virginia but served from another state are shown, if I discovered this.
