John Pogue was born in County Monaghan Ireland, and died some time before 1861 in Victoria County. He married Mary (last name unknown) in Ireland. She was born about 1798 in Co. Monaghan, Ireland, and died in Canada.
John and Mary raised four children that we are aware of:

.2. Mary Jane Pogue was born on June 8, 1833 in Co. Monaghan, Ireland, and died December 23, 1918 in Valentia, Victoria County .She married William Alexander Casey. He was born about 1835 in Ireland.
Mary Jane and Alexander had seven children:
1. Alexander Casey, who in 1919, lived in Valentia, Victoria County.
2. Margaret J Casey was born December 03, 1854, and she died December 23, 1918. She married Joshua Scott on January 30, 1871, son of James Scott and Catherine. Joshua was born September 01, 1845. On January 3, 1919 Margaret Casey resided in Lindsay, Ontario
The children of Margaret Casey and Joshua Scott are:
1. William Alexander Scott, born November 21, 1873 in Lindsay. He married Ethel Grace Brown on June 29, 1904 in Lindsay, Victoria County. She was born about 1886 in Lindsay. On that day William Alexander was residing in Lindsay and his occupation was that of a wood worker. Ethel also resided in Lindsay.
2. Howard Scott, born on September 23, 1879.
3.. Earnest Scott, b. September 04, 1881.
4. Sylvester Scott, b. October 02, 1884.
3. Robert John Casey, born in 1856; he died on September 01, 1871.
4. Elizabeth Casey was born on April 24, 1861, and died on November 29. 1923. Another source records that Elizabeth was born on April 24, 1862. She married James H. Stokes. He was born on January 31, 1854, and died on October 28, 1931. In 1901 Elizabeth and James lived in Mariposa, Ontario; on January 21, 1919 they lived in Valentia, Victoria County. On the 1901 Census, Elizabeth and James are recorded as having one child, namely Ethel Stokes born August 10, 1886, residing in Mariposa in 1901.
5. Salina Casey (also known as Lena) was born on August 18, 1862 in Mariposa, Ontario. She married Isaiah Earle on May 07, 1890 in Mariposa, Victoria Co. the son of Thomas Earle and Mary McRory. He was born on February 10, 1860 in Fenelon, Ontario. On their marriage registration, they both resided in Mariposa, with Isaiah working as a farmer. On January 3, 1919 they lived in Weyburn, Saskatchewan.
Salina Casey and Isaiah Earle had two children, Wilbert Earle, born July 5, 1891 and Clifford Earl, born April 13, 1898.
6. William A Casey was born about 1866 in Mariposa Twp.; he married. Sarah Jane Graham on February 20, 1894 in Minden Twp., Haliburton County. She was born about 1871 in Minden the daughter of Francis Graham and Margaret Jane. On the marriage record it shows William lived in Mariposa Twp and was a farmer; Sarah Jane Graham lived in Minden
7. James Henry Casey was born on July 22, 1869; he died in 1947; he married Mary E. Keegan. Mary was born January 21, 1871 and died in 1948. In 1919 James lived in Valentia, Victoria County; in 1901 the family is recorded as living in Mariposa, Ontario.
Mary Jane died on December 23, 1918 at the home of her son Mr. James Casey. Her Obituary follows:
Mrs. Alex Casey died at the home of her son, Mr. James Casey of Valentia, on December 23, 1918 at the age of 87 years, 6 months, (thus born circa 1831) She was born in Co. Monaghan, Ireland, coming to Canada with her parents, age 16 (circa 1847); her maiden name being Mary Jane Pogue. In 1853 she married Mr. Alex Casey, and for nearly half a century resided on the farm where she died. Here the seven children were born: Mrs. Joshua Scott of Lindsay, William Casey of Morden, Manitoba; Mrs. James Stokes of Valentia; Mrs. Isaiah Earl of Weyburn, Saskatchewan; Alexander Casey of Valentia; James H. Casey of Valentia. About two years after the death of her husband, in 1898, the late Mrs. Casey moved to Lindsay, and took up residence on Elgin Street, where she spent 18 years. A year ago last August, owing to her advanced age, she returned to the old homestead at Valentia. The late Mrs. Casey became a member of the Methodist Church during early girlhood. 3. James Pogue was born about 1828 in Monaghan, Ireland, and died about 1870 in Michigan, U.S.A.. He married Mary Earls on December 20, 1853 in Ops Township. She was born about 1830 in Ontario, and died about 1870 in Michigan, U.S.A. In 1861 James and Mary lived in Minden, beside Alexander Pogue and Sarah (Mortimer). James and Mary were married by Thomas Hanna, the Wesleyan minister. Witnesses at the ceremony were Duncan Campbell and Thomas Earl.
James Pogue and Mary Earls to Michigan to seek out a new life for their family, and had died there in 1870 of some untimely mishap or accident. Their children were farmed out to various friends and relatives. Source: Alice Burke

4. John Pogue, youngest son of John and Mary Pogue was born in Ireland; he married Elizabeth Budd on October 17, 1860 in Victoria County. She was born in . England. On the day of their marriage John lived in Minden and Elizabeth in Ops Township.
Stuart goes on to say that John and Mary lived in Southern Victoria County and in Minden, Haliburton. Their children James, John and Elizabeth moved to Haliburton.
