The marriage of Samuel Gummere and Rachel James as recorded at the Quaker Concord Monthly Meeting in Chester County, Pennsylvania reads:-
2 10M 1783 Samuel Gummere of Mooreland, Philadelphia County, son of John and Sarah Gummere of the same place married Rachel James of Concord, daughter of John and Ann James of Willistown (deceased), at Concord.

Samuel Gummere was a Quaker minister, and at one time, postmaster at Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. According to the Dictionary of American Biography, Samuel had a mathematical mind and could solve any arithmetical problem.

At the time of the 1790 census the family were listed as residing in the Manor of Moreland, Montgomery County, with 3 males over 16 years of age, 2 males under 16, and 3 females. In the 1800 census they were in Horsham, Montgomery County - 2 males aged 10-15 years, 1 male aged 16-25, 2 males over the age of 45 years, 2 females under 10 years, and 2 females over 45 years of age. Willow Grove is sometimes described as being part of Horsham Township, and sometimes as part of Moreland Township. Over the years boundaries are moved, but it seems that the family lived in Willow Grove until sometime before the 1810 census. The map below dated 1857 shows Willowgrove Township in Moreland with the Friends Meeting House on the left of the map.

1857 map showing the location of Willow Grove

By the time of the 1810 census they were living in Lower Smithfield Township in Northampton County, Pennsylvania.

Rachel Gummere née James died on 10 September 1821 and was buried in Burlington, New Jersey. Samuel Gummere died on 10 May 1825 and was also buried in Burlington, New Jersey. They may have been living with either of their sons, John or Samuel, as both had established themselves in Burlington by that time. The 1820 census for New Jersey has been lost, so it can't be determined if this was the case.
