Montella was born in 14 May 1893. In 1930 the couple was residing in St. Joseph County, Michigan with five of their children.

Perry died 17 July 1939 Three Rivers Hospital, Three Rivers, St. Joseph County, Michigan from pneumonia. He was buried at the Constantine Cemetery, Constantine, St. Joseph County, Michigan. Montella died ten years later on 7 December 1949 with burial in the Constantine Cemetery on 10 December 1949. Six children were born to this couple: Ralph, James, Vernon, Irene (married C. E. Miller), Betty, and Robert Creager.
