Daniel Alexander "Alec" Thurman

 

Daniel Alexander "Alec" Thurman was born 21 October 1878 in Collin County, Texas1. He married Julia Portia Hurley 26 December 1909 in the Union Community, Hopkins County, Texas. She was the daughter of Allen Hurley and Mary Guinn. Julia was born 26 February 1889 in Reilly Springs, Hopkins County, Texas.

  1. Mary Lena Thurman was born 20 May 1911 and died 09 July 1999. She married Jarrett L. "Pete" Swindell 22 December 1928 in Hopkins County, Texas (Vol 13, p 103). He was born 31 July 1909 and died 04 October 1977 in Hopkins County, Texas. They are buried in Restlawn Memorial Park, Hopkins County, Texas.

    Freddie Wayne Swindell, b. 22 November 1929, Hopkins County, Texas; d. 24 July 1977, Dallas County, Texas. He married Betty Jean Miller. She was born 27 May 1931 and died 04 August 1987 in Dallas County, Texas. They are buried in Restlawn Memorial Park, Hopkins County, Texas
     
  2. Ottie Evelyn "Ott" Thurman was born 11 December 1913 in the Union Community, Hopkins County, Texas (Probate Vol: 29, p152) and died 07 October 1999 in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, Texas. She married Fred Warren Ponder 17 October 1931 in Hugo, Choctaw County, Oklahoma. He was the son of Francis M. Ponder and Georgia Zenobia Whatley. Fred was born 04 March 1911 and died 27 November 1987. They are buried in Reilly Springs Cemetery in Hopkins County, Texas

  4. Ruby Nell Thurman was born 18 February 1922 and died 12 March 1939. She married Louie Coker 04 July 1937 in Hopkins County, Texas (Vol 18, p 417). Ruby and her infant son, James Lonzell Coker, are buried in Greenpond Cemetery, Hopkins County, Texas

     
    Mrs. Ruby Nell Coker was born Feb. 18, 1922, and died March 12, 1939. She was married to Louie Coker, July 4, 1936. She lived a devoted wife for only two short years. Having to give up her precious infant son seemed to bring grief to her. She professed faith in Christ in her early childhood. She was at the home of Mrs. Coker when she died. She leaves a husband, Louie Coker; a mother and father, Mr. & Mrs. D. A.Thurmon; two sisters, Mary Lena Swindel and Ottie Eula Ponder, two brothers, D. A. Thurmon and Hurley Thurmon. She was laid to rest beside her infant son at Green Pond cemetery.

    James Coker

    Three week old grandson of Alex Thurman of the Greenpond community, died at the family home early Tuesday. Funeral services were conducted at Greenpond Tuesday afternoon. The infant is survived by his parents.
