The building was brought down from "Sprout Springs", near Fayetteville. It closed in the 1970's. The Train Depot used to sit right next to the railway tracks at the intersection of Church Street and Rooks Road.

The Atlantic Coastline Railroad had a line that once operated through the town. I recall the only train I remember seeing operating on the tracks was one which transported pulpwood.

Sometime later in the 1970's, after closing, the train depot was purchased by James "Jimmy" Eakins who lived off Beatty's Bridge Road and moved the depot to a location on his farm.

The old Atkinson Depot and rail yard as seen from other side.

The brick building in the background on the left were stores and such at one time. I recall that Harry and Bessie Simpson owned a general store at the corner shown in this photo. They lived upstairs and there was a staircase in the rear of the building going upstairs to their home. These buildings were across the street from the old depot.

The brick building to the right of the depot and in the far background was the old drug store, which began in 1923 and filled prescriptions until 1962 at which time it closed.
