Point Caswell Baptist Church

The church was organized by Dr. T.H. Pritchard, Revs. D.C. Kelly and W.G. Kennedy, in the home of William Sherman, on October 16, 1884. 

The property  for the church was purchased Oct. 4, 1884.  The Church wasn't dedicated until June 18, 1889.  The date the church was built is unknown.  The church was abandoned in the early 1950's.

Charter members were:  Capt. H.M. Driver, William Sherman, John G. Parker, Mrs. Mary C. Driver, Mrs. Elizabeth Sherman, and Mrs. Mannitta Parker.

Trustees:  William Sherman and John G. Parker.
Deacons:  R.M. Bloodworth and A.B. Rooks.

The first pastor was Rev. W.M. Kennedy who served from 1884 until 1887 and the last pastor was L.L. Johnson who served from 1925 until 1928.  Sunday school records date until the 1950's.

The church was used by a movie studio on several occasions, one of which was "American Gothic".
