4.  Jacob2 BURNOP (Jacob1) was born May 20, 1810 in Brough Under Stainmore, Westmorland Co., England and christened May 20, 1810.[1]  He married Mary Johnson June 4, 1838 in Brough Under Stainmore, Westmorland Co., England.[2]

     Mary JOHNSON was born circa 1810.[3]

     Children of Jacob2 Burnop and Mary Johnson were as follows:

        11.        i.    John3 Burnop; born July 14, 1839 in Brough Under Stainmore, Westmorland Co., England.[4]

+      12.       ii.    Matthew Burnop, born 1841 in Brough Under Stainmore, Westmorland Co., England; married Ann (--?--).

        13.     iii.    Elizabeth Burnop; born 1844 in Brough Under Stainmore, Westmorland Co., England.[5]

        14.      iv.    Mary Burnop; born 1847 in Brough Under Stainmore, Westmorland Co., England; christened Mar 8, 1847.[6]

        15.       v.    Jacob Burnop; born December 30, 1848 in Brough Under Stainmore, Westmorland Co., England.[7]

        16.      vi.    Jane Burnop; born 1851 in Brough Under Stainmore, Westmorland Co., England; christened Mar 13, 1851.[8]

        17.    vii.    Benjamin Burnop; born 1853 in Brough Under Stainmore, Westmorland Co., England.[9]

        18.    viii.    Ann Burnop; born 1854 in Brough Under Stainmore, Westmorland Co., England; christened Dec. 19, 1854.[10]

 

 

 

10.  Richard2 BURNOP (Jacob1)was born in 1828 in Brough Under Stainmore, Westmorland Co., England and christened Jan. 27, 1828.[11],[12]  He married Margaret ? circa 1853 and died in April 1879 in Smyth Co., VA.[13]

     Richard immigrated circa March, 1858 from Westmoreland, England to PA then later moved to Carroll Co., VA.[14]  He was a laborer on June 18, 1867 in Rich Valley, Smyth Co., VA.[15]  He was a miner in 1870 in Carroll Co., VA[16] and a farmer on November 7, 1875 in Rich Valley, Smyth Co., VA.[17]  He left a will on September 24, 1878 in Carroll Co., VA which is transcribed in the “Items of Interest” section under “Family Wills.”[18],[19]

 

     Margaret ? was born on February 9, 1835 in England.[20],[21] She died on April 28, 1909 at age 74 and is buried in Ridgedale Methodist Church Cemetery in Smyth Co., VA.[22]

     Children of Richard2 Burnop and Margaret ? were as follows:

+      19.        i.    Richard Thompson3 Burnop, born September 7, 1856 in Westmoreland County, England; married Nancy E. Vaughan; married Susan S. Crabtree.

+      20.       ii.    James P. Burnop, born August 29, 1858 in Washington Co., VA; married Rhoda Francis S. Richardson.

        21.     iii.    Margaret Ann Burnop; born June 18, 1867 in Rich Valley, Smyth Co., VA.[23],[24]

        22.      iv.    Mary B. Burnop; born November, 1869 in Carroll, VA;[25],[26] married Frank Maybin March 20, 1904 in Smyth Co., VA.[27]

        23.       v.    Charity Burnop; born July 13, 1874 in Carroll Co., VA;[28] died July 13, 1874 in Carroll Co., VA; one of triplets that only lived a few hours.[29]

        24.      vi.    Faith Burnop; born July 13, 1874 in Carroll Co., VA;[30] died July 13, 1874 in Carroll Co., VA; one of triplets that only lived a few hours.[31]

        25.    vii.    Hope Burnop; born July 13, 1874 in Carroll Co., VA;[32] died July 13, 1874 in Carroll Co., VA; one of triplets that only lived a few hours.[33]

        26.    viii.    Elizabeth “Betsy” Burnop," born November 7, 1875 in Smyth Co., VA;[34],[35] married William G. Webb January 8, 1902 in Smyth Co., VA;[36] died November 20, 1940 at age 65; Buried in Ridgedale Methodist Church Cemetery in Smyth Co., VA.[37] 1900 Census lists Bettie Burnop
