Connection to our McLeods

Alice H. Cook, daughter of (Capt) William Lewis Cook and Elizabeth Alice DuPre Barnes, married Mannius Baum McLeod. Baum was the son of John N and Kitsy Davis McLeod.

As is the way with many of the families documented in this website, all of these families were related several times in addition to this marriage.In addition to being her son in law, Baum was the grand nephew of Elizabeth Barnes Cook. In the name of God Amen I JOHN COOK late of Camden District and now of Charlestown being in perfect Health mind and memory and Calling to mind that all mankind has once to die do make publish pronounce and declare this to be my last Will and Testament hereby revoking disallowing and disannulling All other last Will and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made and Executed and declare this to be my last Will and Testament

First I recommend my Soul to God who have it and my body to the Earth to be decently butied [buried] at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named and my Worldly Estate after payment and satisfaction of all my Just Debts and funeral Expences-I Give and Bequeath to my beloved Wife ELIZABETH COOK to Negro wenches names PHILLIS and NANCY and all my Household furniture to her and her Heirs Executors. Administrators and Afsigns for Ever-Also I Give and
