Macie B. Abney, 86, of Rustic Way in Lexington, died Saturday, April 21, at St. Joseph Hospital.
He was born Oct. 23, 1920, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot, where he worked as a clerk.
He is survived by a dear friend, Daisy Fain.
Services were held Tuesday at Maple Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Harrison officiating.
Betts & West Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

NATCHEZ � Margaret Lola Abney Moss, 85, died peacefully with family at her Natchez home Friday, Jan. 19, 2007.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church in Natchez with the Rev. Dr. John Larson officiating. She will be buried next to her late husband Dr. George West Moss at Natchez City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to service time Monday at Stratton Chapel, First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Moss was born Nov. 3, 1921, the daughter of Marietta Alexander and James William Abney, in Montrose, MS. She grew up loving to play the piano and working with her family at their general store.
After completing studies at East Central Junior College, she earned a B.A. in music from Mississippi State College for Women in 1942. She often told her children how fortunate she felt that she had been able to attend college. After graduation she taught music at Madison High School. There she met George West Moss, who was a trainer in the Army Air Corps. They were married on July 15, 1943, in Montrose.
The Mosses moved to Natchez in 1951, where Dr. Moss maintained a medical practice until 1991. He died in July 2002.
In 1961, the Mosses bought the historic house Texada and began a restoration that continued for eight years. At one time Mrs. Moss operated an antiques business in the house.
Texada has been shown on Fall and Spring Pilgrimage Tours for many years and was one of the homes on the original Candlelight Tour of Homes.
The Mosses operated a Bed-and-Breakfast at Texada, entertaining visitors with stories of Natchez and about the restoration. They especially enjoyed the company of friends at their home. In their early years in Natchez, they traveled and created theme parties with friends. Later, they were members of dinner clubs and bridge clubs.
Mrs. Moss was a church, civic and community leader. She was a deacon at First Presbyterian Church and served as president of Women of the Church.
As a member of the Historic Natchez Foundation, Mrs. Moss took a special interest in the licensing program, the Historic Natchez Collection, and was an inspiration in the success of that project, donating time, money and influence to get the project off the ground. Mrs. Moss served two terms as president of the Foundation and was the longest-serving board member of the Foundation to date. On Jan. 25, 2007, she was to receive the Historic Natchez Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award for her longstanding support, especially of the licensing program.
She continued throughout her life to be interested in historic preservation and to be involved in preservation projects. She played a major role in the preservation of the William Johnson House when years ago a Natchez Garden Club committee was formed to purchase the house for safe keeping until it was acquired by the National Park Service.
She was president of the Natchez Garden Club twice. For 17 years, she was music director of the Historic Natchez Pageant and played piano for high school musicals and Natchez Little Theatre productions.
She was recipient of a Natchez Rotary Partners in Service award and was a major supporter of Community Concerts, Musical Arts League and Natchez Festival of Music.
Mrs. Moss was a beautiful, elegant lady whose dignity and graciousness were apparent to all who knew her. She was sophisticated and forward-thinking. She was known by family and friends to be a perfectionist.
Mrs. Moss is survived by her sister, Alice Gammage of Leland; her brother, James Abney, and his wife, Anne, of Conroe, Texas; and their families. She also is survived by her four children, Lelia Mahood Culhane, and her husband, Dr. Richard Culhane, of Dallas, TX; Dr. George West Moss, and his wife, Amy, of Brownsville, TN; James Abney Moss, and his wife, Durden, of Jackson; and Helen Moss Smith, and her husband, Randy, of Lafayette, LA.
Survivors also include her 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who especially enjoyed being with their grandmother at the family�s annual beach reunion in Perdido Key, FL.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Katherine Mahood Waldrop, Margaret Mahood Struthers, George West Moss III, Philip Floyd Moss, Emily Moss Carpenter, Hannah Abney Smith, Mary Ann Moss Darsey, Marietta Ruth Smith, Helen Moss Marshall, James Abney Moss Jr., Randall Lamar Smith Jr. and Andrew Moss Smith; and her dear friend Neil Varnell.

Marjorie Alice Bates (nee Wooley), age 87 years of Batesville, IN formerly of Sunman, IN passed away Monday, December 6, 2004 in Batesville.
Born December 1, 1917 in Franklin County, IN near Mt. Carmel, IN; the daughter of Charles & Mabel (Evans) Wooley. She married Raymond Leonard Bates in Milton, IN on July 21, 1939. She retired as a nurses aid at Fayette Memorial Hospital in Connersville, IN and was a member of New Testament Baptist Church in Penntown, IN.
Mrs. Bates is survived by her daughter Wanda Bates of Indianapolis, IN; sons Raymond Bates Jr. of Stewart, FL and Donald L. Bates of Sunman, IN; grandchildren Gina Abney, Dana Winings, Donna Peblor, Kelley Carter & Nicole Shaw; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and sister Thelma Landon of Greenfield, IN. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 9, 2004 at 11:00 AM with Bro. Thomas Fehrman officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5�8 PM all at New Testament Baptist Church in Penntown, IN. Marsha A. (Lenth) Abney, 56, of 740 30th Street Dr. SE, died Saturday, June 17, 2006, in her home from cancer. Services at 1 PM Wednesday in Our Savior�s Lutheran Church with Rev. Phil Jorgensen officiating. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday and at the church after 12:30 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include her husband Douglas, son Bryan, sister Mary (Paul) Wolter of Arlington, Texas, brother Junior (Lynn) Lenth of Oelwein, Iowa, and nieces and nephews, Robin, Scott, Crissy, Maryjo, Paul G., Teresa, and Dennis. She was preceded in death by her Parents Lloyd and Ferne Lenth and nephew Chad.
Marsha was born July 21, 1949 in Farmersburg, Iowa. She graduated from Elkader High School in 1967. She attended Kirkwood Community College and earned an Associate Degree in accounting graduating in 1969. She was employed by McLeod USA in the accounting department. She married Douglas G. Abney on June 14, 1975 at Our Savior�s Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
Marsha was especially proud of their son Bryan and his accomplishments. She was an active member of the Cedar Rapids Corvette Club where she had served as vice president and was currently the treasurer. She loved to travel and cruise with her CRCC friends. Marsha was very much loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
A memorial fund has been established.
Maude E. Abner, 88, of Bayard, died Sept 11, 2006 at Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard, NE. Graveside services will be held at 10:30am, Monday September 18th, 2006 at the Blue Springs Cemetery in Blue Springs, NE with Pastor Clayton Lundstedt officiating.

Maude was born on Sept 28, 1917 on a farm near Holmesville, NE to Frank and Margaret (Murray) Linscott. She received her early education in Blue Springs, NE. She married Roy Abner on July 5, 1940 in Chadron, NE and they made their home in Scottsbluff. She was a member of the First Christian Church and The Rebecca�s. She was loved by many and will be missed by all of her family and friends.
She is survived by her son R. Roger (Olivene) Abner of Bayard; daughters Susan (Kenneth) Klein of Frederick, CO, Mary Ann (Powd) Boles of Hanna, WY; grandson Bryan (Christy) Abner of Atkinson, NE; granddaughters Sheri (Jay) Ehler of Sydney, NE, Michelle (Dave) Smoljan of Longmont, CO, Jennifer Klein of Thornton, CO, and six great-grandchildren.
Her husband Roy, four brothers and three sisters precede her in death.
A memorial has been established to the First Christian Church in Scottsbluff.
Marvin D. �Polly� �Tank� Cooke Sr., 56, of Millsboro, formerly of Seaford, died, Friday, March 3, 2006, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He graduated from Seaford High School in 1968.
Mr. Cooke faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army, and upon completing his tour of duty with the Army, he served for more than 20 years in the National Guard. He worked for Mountaire Farms in Millsboro, in the shipping department as a truck driver. His most recent employment was with Hardwood Mills Lumber Co. in Millsboro. Mr. Cooke enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a man who treasured time spent with family and friends and he liked to be of assistance to others.
He is survived by one son, Marvin D. �Polly� Cooke Jr. of Seaford; three stepchildren, Steven Abney of Millsboro, Natasha Abney of Bridgeville, and Brandon Garrison of Georgetown; one brother, William Cooke of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sisters, Mary Hopkins of Seaford, Diane Cooke of Brooklyn, and Frances Gray of Baltimore; three grandchildren, Castaysha Lewis of Bridgeville, Marlia �Starr� Cooke of Seaford, and Darius Quailes of Salisbury, Md.; two aunts, Dorethea Herring of Bridgeville, and Iona Hazzard of Seaford; three uncles, Vernon �Honey� Cooke of Frankford, Thomas Cooke of Bridgeton, N.J., and Robert Cooke of Brooklyn; his devoted and loving companion, Violet Garrison, with whom he resided in Millsboro; his ex-wife, Margie Cooke, who has remained a dear friend; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral were held in the Agape Family Tabernacle, Seaford, with burial in the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro, at 1 p.m. immediately after the funeral service.

Mary M. "Pee Wee Clark" Abney, 55, of Lexington, the widow of Roy "Sonny" Abney Sr., died Sept 17, 2000 at her home.
A native of Lexington, she was the daughter of the late James Edward and Alice Donavan Clark. She was a cashier for K-mart.
She is survived by a daughter, Vicky Abney Capps of Lexington, four sons and their wives, Roy A. Abney Jr. and Bess Abney, Marshall and Brenda Abney, Matthew and Michael Morrois who are twins. All are from Lexington. Mrs. Abney is alos survived by 13 gradchildre; two brothers, Joe Russell Clark of Lancaster, George Wallace Clark of Nicholasville; a sister, Emma Smith of Lexington; and close friends Cordelia Haynes and Pat Simpson, both of Lexington. Funeral services were held at 2:30 pm last Thursday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington, Rev. Garroll Finch officiating.
Burial Followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Death Comes to Mrs. Matt Abney Mrs. Margaret Lee Abney, 77, widow of Matt Abney, dies at 9:30 pm Sunday at her home, 134 1/2 Linden Avenue following a long illness. Mrs. Abney was born in Estill County and was a daughter of the late David and Nancy Grey Lee. She was a member of a Christian Church in Powell County. Survivors include two sons, George Abney, Hamilton, Ohio; and Leonard Abney, Winchester; three daughters, Mrs. Laura Grimes, Hamilton Ohio, and Mrs. Emma Green, and Mrs. Mary Puckett, both of Winchester; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Reynolds, Cincinnati, and Mrs. Martha Tipton, Winchester; a brother, James Rowland Lee, Hamilton, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildrenand several nieces and nephews. Mr. Marion Abney, Sr., age 88, of Montpelier, IN and formerly of Rockcastle County died Tuesday, February 15, 2005 in Marion, IN. He was born in Rockcastle County on December 19, 1916, the son of Jack and Wilma Abney. He was a farmer and brick mason, he was also a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Della Myrtle Abney. Five sons, Denzil and Preston both of Kokomo, IN; Keytron, Terry and Johnny all of Montpelier, IN. Six daughters, Zella Miller, Faye Holbrook, Barbara Johnson and ruby Slone all of Mt. Vernon; Kathy Utterback of Lexington and Ruth Nestleroad of Montpelier, IN. Twenty-seven grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons, Keith Ray, Marion Jr. and Tenon Abney.

Mat Abney, 83, Dies At Home Here Mat Abney, 83, retired farmer, died at 5:45am Monday at his home, 136 Linden Avenue. Mr. Abney was born in Estill County, but has resided in Clark County for the past 32 years. He was a son of the late Clem and Martha Chaney Abney and was a member of the Rose Chapel Church Winn Ave. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Lee Abney, three sons, George Abney, Hamilton Ohio, Dillard and Leonard Abney of Winchester; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Puckett, of Clark County, Mrs. Robert Grimes, Hamilton Ohio, and Mrs. Price Green, Winchester; 20 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 pm Tuesday at the Scobee Funeral Home by the Rev. Walter Hampton. Burial will be in the Winchester Cemeteryetery. Michael L. Abner- Valparaiso, IN Michael L. Abner, 58, of Valparaiso formerly of Whiting, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2005 at Porter Hospital. He was born January 20, 1947 in Centertown, Kentucky the son of Tom & Lee (Smith) Abner, graduated from Whiting High School in 1965 and served 4 years with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He had worked the past 39 years in Shipping at Bethlehem Steel's 160 inch Plate Mill and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife, Christine "Tina" (Miller) Abner of Valparaiso, their two children: Kim Abner and Michael Abner both of Valparaiso and his mother; Lee Abner of Whiting. Mrs. Minnie Ethel Jennings Abney, age 91 of Mt. Vernon, died Tuesday, Sep. 6, 2005 at the Terrace Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility in Berea. She was born in Rockcastle County on Oct. 15, 1913 the daughter of Melvin and Rachel Creech Jennings. She was a retired custodian for Miami of Ohio University at Oxford, enjoyed sewing, and was of the Pentecostal Faith. She is survived by a son, Ray Abney of Somerset; two sisters, Sinnie Shell of Wilmington, OH and Nancy Roddy of Richmond, IN; three grandchildren, Kenneth Abney of Somerset, Sheila Keith (Greg) of Bronston, and Beverly Abney of Lexington; two great grandchildren, Justin Abney (Mandy) of Somerset and Candace Michelle Abney of Falmouth; and one great-great granddaughter, Madison Paige Abney of Somerset. Mitzi Lee Abney,, Willard,MO, passed
away Friday evening in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, following complications
from a brain hemorrhage. Mitzi was born in Springfield, Mo., on January 10,
1968, the daughter of Jess and Margaret (Kime) Abney. She was a graduate of
Willard High School in 1984 and Drury College in 1988. She lettered all four
years at Willard High School in basketball, volleyball, track and golf. She was
the Missouri state long jump champion. While at Drury, she played volleyball.
Mitzi was a free spirit and lover of children and animals. She was a Christian
and a loving and caring person. Her wish to be an organ donor was honored. By
giving of her self, other individuals can continue to live and enjoy life. Mitzi
is survived by her parents, Jess and Margaret Abney, of Willard, Mo.; one
sister, Melody and husband, Ron Huffman, one special nephew, Briton Lee Feitas,
all of Joplin, Mo.; her maternal grandmother, Florence Kime, of Willard, Mo.;
several cousins; one uncle; and one aunt. She was preceded in death by her
grandfather, Barney Kime and uncle, Harry Kime. A celebration of Mitzi's life
will be honored with graveside services to be held Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at
10 a.m. in Wesley Cemetery, Willard, Mo., with interment following under
