Nelson Peter Dolbeck was christened "Pierre Antoine Domitian Dolbec" when he was two years old, on August 5, 1838 in the St. George de Noyan parish in the town of Henryville, Québec, Canada.

Nelson served as a Private and as a Corporal with Company B, 62nd New York Volunteer Infantry (click here for his Civil War Records).

Nelson and Ellen were married by Rev. Hibbard Ingalls on November 24, 1862 (Streetroad, Ticonderoga, NY).

Nelson had a regular route throughout northern NY where he sold garden seeds and Dolbeck's Ready Relief. His visits were eagerly anticipated by his steady customers and he was sorely missed while he spent his winters in Florida. A number of his customers provided testimonials about Dolbeck's Ready Relief.

Nelson wrote a column for the Ticonderoga Sentinel in 1897 extolling the virtues of Dolbeck's Ready Relief. His typical column was titled "Mineral Spring Farm" such as this one from April 29, 1897. Here is another article from December 16, 1897 that describes how Nelson came up with the name "Mineral Spring Farm".

Nelson also kept journals of his daily life. Among the items in the journal are various recipes, such as these variations on the ingredients for wine..
